About Hyderabad

           Hyderabad, the creation of the Qutab Shahi rulers, is the capital of Andhra Pradesh state, offering a fascinating panorama of the past. It boasts of a strong industrial, commercial and information Technology centre. Hills, tanks, forests, and rock formations dominate the physiography of Hyderabad. It is fast developing as a beautiful tourist destination. The city is famous for its minarets and pearls.

.M.Birla Planetarium :- A few yards away from Birla Mandir are India's most modern planetarium and Science Museum paying tribute to the advancement achieved by Science and Technology. The Planetarium offers visitors, daily sky shows, both in Telugu and English

Birla Mandir :- Overlooking the Tank Bund, in Hyderabad, this magnificent shrine dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara offers a fantastic panoramic view of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Built entirely out of marble this magnificent structure stands atop the Kala Pahad presenting a colorful spectacular sight when illuminated at night.

Deer Park :- The vanasthalipuram deer park about 16 kms. from the city is a recently developed park that situates on the Vijayawada highway. There is another charming picnic spot with a deer park about 24 kms. from Hyderabad at Shameerpet.

Golconda Fort :- Golconda fort is a majestic monument lying on the western outskirts of Hyderabad city. The fortress is built on a granite hill 120 metres high, surrounded by massive crenellated ramparts. One of the most remarkable features of is its system of acoustics whereby the sounds of hands clapped at the entry gate can be heard quite clearly at the top of the hill.

Hussain Sagar Lake :- The most popular promenade Tank Bund dams the Hussain Sagar large lake that connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. In the middle of the lake is the 'Rock of Gibraltar', on which stands the statue of Buddha. The beautiful Necklace Road lies on one side of the lake.

Mecca Mosque :- Just a few steps away from Charminar is the Mecca Masjid one of the largest in the world. The central arch in the mosque is said to have been built with bricks from Mecca, hence the name. It treasures holy relics of the Prophet.

Nehru Zoological Park :- Situated in the Bahadurpura area Nehru Zoological Park is the biggest zoological park in India spread over 300 acres with a Lion Safari Park, Natural History Museum and a children's train. It is located in Hyderabad city and is easily accessible.

Osmania University :- It is one of the oldest universities in India and is named after Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan. The university buildings are splendid examples of Indo-Persian and Arabic architecture.

Paigah TombsThe Paigah nobles ranked next in hierarchy to the ruling family of the Nizams. These tombs are situated at Santoshnagar, belonging to the Paigah nobles. These unique lime and mortar tombs are beautifully carved. They have constructed many palaces including Falaknuma Palace.

Public Gardens :- The Public Gardens are the largest gardens in the city housing a number of important public buildings including the State Legislative Assembly, State Archaeological Museum, Jubilee Hall, Jawahar Bal Bhavan and Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam-an open air theatre.

Qutb Shahi Tombs :- The royal cemetery of the Qutub Shahi kings lies about 2 kms. from the Golconda Fort. Landscaped gardens surround these graceful structures and every arch, dome and gallery speak of Qutb Shahi architectural excellence.

Salarjung Museum :- Located on Musi river this museum is the third largest museum in India housing one of the biggest one-man collections of antiques in the world. Yusuf Ali Salar Jung, the prime minister of Nizam Of Hyderabad, accumulated the objects.
The museum is open every day except Friday.

Secundrabad :- In 1798, an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was made a cantonment as a result of an alliance signed between the Nizam and the East India Company for military and political co-operation. The cantonment was named Secunderabad after the then Nizam Sikander Jah. It is a few kms. away from Hyderabad.

Usman Sagar :- About 20 kms away from the center of Hyderabad is the picturesque lake-Usman Sagar, popularly known as Gandipet. It is an excellent picnic spot with well-laid gardens. It is now the source of drinking water to the twin cities.

Vidhan Sabha Bhawan :- Vidhan Sabha Bhawan is one of the most beautiful legislative houses in India located in one of the best-laid gardens in the country. The architecture and grace of the white and elegant building attracts attention.

Getting in, Around & Away
AIR : Hyderabad has an airport at Begumpet with domestic and International terminals. Hyderabad can be reached by air, from all the major cities of the country.
RAIL : Hyderabad and Secunderabad are extensively covered by the railway network. The main railway stations in Hyderabad are located at Kachiguda and Nampally. Secunderabad Railway Station, which is more commonly used, is centrally located.
