SPSU Alumnus Major Kamalendra Singh Rao Leads Daring Rescue in Ladakh

In a remarkable act of bravery, Major Kamalendra Singh Rao (2008 batch) esteemed alumnus of Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur led a heroic rescue operation in Ladakh, saving approximately 1000 stranded individuals amidst sudden, heavy snowfall at the 5360-meter-high Chang La Pass. On May 30, unexpected snowfall trapped tourists, including 150 motorcyclists and over 1000 people in 300 vehicles, along a 75-kilometer stretch. Major Rao, the commanding officer at Chang La, swiftly mobilized his team to navigate the harsh conditions, ensuring the safe evacuation of all stranded individuals.


Prof. (Dr.) Prithvi Yadav, President and Vice Chancellor, SPSU, applauded Major Rao for his extraordinary bravery and commitment to the nation, stating, "Major Kamalendra Singh Rao has made the university and the entire nation proud through his exemplary act of valour and solidarity." His heroic efforts have brought immense pride to SPSU and the nation, serving as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army and its officers, whose unwavering commitment continues to safeguard and inspire the nation.
