Udaipur, December 16: The Geology Department of Bhupal Nobles University successfully concluded a two-day geological educational excursion. The trip was organized under the guidance of Dr. Renu Rathore, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Ritu Tomar, Associate Dean.
Dr. Hemant Sen, Head of the Geology Department, shared details about the excursion, stating that on the first day, students visited the open-cast rock phosphate mines in Jhamarkotra, the Stromatolite Fossil Park, dolomite rocks featuring elephant weathering, and geological formations like stalactites and stalagmites at Jhameshwar Temple. On the second day, students explored the lead-zinc mines of Zawar, located 35 kilometers south of Udaipur. They studied geological structures such as mapping, folds, faults, retards, and gossans.
The Geology Department regularly organizes such educational excursions to enhance students' interest and understanding of the subject. Students from the third semester of B.Sc. and the first semester of M.Sc. actively participated in this excursion.
The primary objective of the geological survey was to encourage students to develop an interest in scientific research and innovation. The students expressed their satisfaction and enthusiasm, considering the trip an invaluable learning experience filled with significant insights.
