In a bid to raise awareness about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its benefits, Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication will select three students as NEP SAARTHIs. These student ambassadors will actively engage in spreading knowledge about the NEP reforms, assisting with its implementation on campus, and collecting feedback to enhance the policy’s impact on the student community.
In line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for NEP 2020, the NEP SAARTHI initiative at Journalism University aims to empower students to play a pivotal role in driving awareness and understanding of the transformative changes introduced by the NEP.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Lodha, In-Charge of NEP at the university, explained that three students from the university's graduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs will be selected as NEP SAARTHIs. The selection process will involve an examination and interview, which will assess the students' knowledge of NEP 2020, leadership and communication skills, and ability to organize awareness campaigns and discussions about the policy’s impact.
“These student ambassadors will be responsible for organizing campus events and social media campaigns to spread awareness about NEP 2020,” Dr. Lodha said. “They will also guide their peers on NEP initiatives, gather feedback from students, and contribute to making the policy even more effective.”
Dr. Lodha further highlighted that at the end of the year, NEP SAARTHIs will receive a Certificate of Recognition from the university, acknowledging their valuable contribution to the successful implementation of NEP 2020. In addition, they will be featured on the official social media channels of the UGC and invited to participate in online events related to NEP. NEP SAARTHIs will also have the unique opportunity to contribute to the national dialogue on educational reforms by publishing articles in the UGC Newsletter.
Discussing the broader vision of NEP 2020, Dr. Lodha emphasized that the policy aims to overhaul India’s education system by prioritizing quality, equity, and access. For its successful implementation, active participation from all stakeholders, especially students, is crucial. The NEP SAARTHI initiative offers a platform for students to lead this educational transformation, ensuring that their voices are heard and that they contribute to shaping the future of Indian higher education.
