**Champion of the Poor and Freedom Fighter**

Hakim Ajmal Khan, a prominent freedom fighter, was known for treating the poor for free and charging fees from the wealthy. In 1908, he was honored with the title "Hajik-ul-Mulk" (Healer of the Nation). In 1915, the British government bestowed upon him the title of "Kaiser-i-Hind," which he later returned. His noble work earned him the title "Masiha-e-Hind" (Savior of India).

**Preserving Traditional Medicine**

In 1910, the British government proposed to revoke the professional recognition of Ayurveda and Unani practitioners. Recognizing the threat to India's medical system, Hakim Ajmal Khan appealed to practitioners to unite against the bill. His efforts led to the British withdrawing the proposal, marking his first open opposition to British rule.

**Political Activism and Leadership**

During the Italian attack on Tripoli, North Lebanon's largest city after Beirut, the British showed indifference, leading to anger among Indian Muslims. Ajmal Khan joined the movement, and the outbreak of World War I further complicated the political landscape. Initially supporting the British, the mass arrest of Muslim leaders led Ajmal Khan to sever ties with the government.

In 1918, Hakim Ajmal Khan joined the Indian National Congress, transforming his ancestral home in Ballimaran, known as Sharif Manzil, into a political hub. His dedication to the freedom struggle was evident in the massive strike on March 30, 1919, in Delhi, planned by him and praised by other leaders.
