The Rajasthan Ophthalmological Society’s 46th annual convention, ROSCON-24, held in Udaipur, saw its second day graced by Dr. T.T. Yaal, Chairman of AIIMS, New Delhi, as the chief guest. Dr. Yaal addressed current challenges in ophthalmology, particularly noting that cataracts are becoming increasingly common in the 30-40 age group. However, he reassured the audience that advanced medical solutions now provide effective treatments, and with new lens implants, post-surgery glasses are often unnecessary.

Dr. Yaal also expressed deep concern over eye injuries in children caused by firecrackers and other incidents, highlighting the lasting damage that can occur. He advised that infants born prematurely or with low birth weight should undergo timely eye screenings, as retinal issues can arise in such cases. The conference featured a special session on pediatric eye diseases, focusing on preventive measures, and encouraging parents to prioritize routine eye exams for their children.

Conference Secretary, Dr. Lakshman Singh Jhala, shared that the second day included several insightful lectures, emphasizing future challenges and advancements in eye care. Society Chairman, Dr. Vishal Agarwal, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Yaal, and around 150 resident ophthalmologists gained valuable insights into recent innovations in the field.
