In a significant stride towards realizing the vision of a "Developed Rajasthan," the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, is hosting the grand Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 from December 9-11 in Jaipur. The summit aims to boost investments across multiple sectors. The event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 9, with several Union Ministers, renowned industrialists, investors from across the globe, and a large number of Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) in attendance.
Record Investment Proposals Achieved
Ahead of the summit, the Rajasthan government has already signed MoUs worth over ₹25 lakh crore. These proposals mark the highest investment commitments ever received in any international investment summit hosted by the state.
Previously, during the BJP-led government under Vasundhara Raje, the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2007 garnered ₹1.5 lakh crore in investment proposals, with a focus on industries, mining, energy, urban infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, animal husbandry, higher education, and healthcare. In 2015, the second edition of Resurgent Rajasthan saw MoUs worth ₹3.21 lakh crore being signed. Raje’s emphasis on infrastructure development and her "Emerging Rajasthan" vision received widespread acclaim.
Under the Congress-led government, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot organized India’s first international Pravasi Rajasthani Conference in 2002, aimed at emotionally connecting NRRs to their roots rather than attracting investments. However, during his previous tenure in 2022, the Invest Rajasthan International Summit resulted in MoUs and LoIs worth ₹10 trillion, including ₹300 crore for social sector projects.
A Bold Step by Bhajanlal Sharma
This time, CM Bhajanlal Sharma has demonstrated bold leadership by organizing the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in the very first year of his tenure. His team, comprising ministers and senior officials, has conducted extensive tours domestically and internationally to create a conducive environment for the event.
Key Highlights of the Summit
The three-day summit in Jaipur will feature 12 thematic sessions, focusing on various sectors. A special session titled “Embracing Diversity: Promoting Inclusive Tourism” will spotlight Rajasthan's prominent tourism sector. Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, this session will include notable participants such as:
Puneet Chhatwal (MD & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited)
Neha Arora (Founder & CEO, Planet Abled)
Rikant Pittie (Founder, EaseMyTrip)
Shailesh Lodha (Actor & Poet)
Nakuul Mehta (Actor)
The session will explore ways to make tourism more inclusive, emphasizing culinary tourism, adventure tourism, religious tourism, and recreational tourism. Discussions will also address strengthening tourism infrastructure, integrating technology, and promoting affordable and accessible travel.
With tourism being the backbone of Rajasthan’s economy, this focused session is expected to bring global best practices to the state and identify strategies for sustainable growth in the sector.
The Path Ahead
As the largest state in India by area, Rajasthan has enormous potential for economic growth. The success of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 will be measured by its ability to convert commitments into actionable projects and contribute meaningfully to the state's development. All eyes are now on the outcomes of this ambitious event.
