Manan Sharma Puts Udaipur on the National Map with His Innovation "AstroBot" at NCC Camp

New Delhi, NCC Sergeant Manan Sharma, a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and a Class 10 student, showcased his innovative app "AstroBot" at the Ideas and Innovation Competition during the NCC Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025. His project, one of 56 selected nationwide, was lauded for its unique concept and its potential to support amateur astronomers

Hailing from Udaipur, Manan had the honor of presenting his app to India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan. Reflecting on the experience, Manan said, "Presenting my idea before CDS General Anil Chauhan was an unforgettable experience. His appreciation motivates me to further develop AstroBot and make it globally accessible for astronomy enthusiasts."

What is AstroBot?
AstroBot is a user-friendly mobile application designed to help amateur astronomers explore and understand the night sky. The app provides real-time astronomical tracking, constellation identification, and personalized stargazing recommendations based on location and weather conditions. AstroBot makes stargazing easy and enjoyable for both beginners and experienced astronomers.

Manan Sharma’s achievements extend beyond the NCC. In 2024, he was selected as a Young Scientist under ISRO's prestigious YUVIKA program, where he gained valuable experience in space science and research. Additionally, he is a certified Toastmasters speaker and a former president of the Toastmasters Gavel Club.

The RDC 2025 Ideas and Innovation Competition is a new initiative aimed at fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among NCC cadets. The competition saw ideas presented on topics like technology, entrepreneurship, and nation-building, with only 56 ideas selected from across the country.

The NCC Republic Day Camp is a highlight of NCC training, bringing together over 2,000 cadets from all parts of India.
