### RPF's Operation Nanhe Farishte Rescues Over 84,000 Children

*Kota:** Over the past seven years, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been leading a pioneering mission called "Operation Nanhe Farishte," dedicated to rescuing vulnerable children across various Indian railway zones. From 2018 to May 2024, RPF has saved 84,119 children from perilous situations at stations and on trains.

Operation Nanhe Farishte is more than just an initiative; it is a lifeline for thousands of children who find themselves in uncertain circumstances. The data from 2018 to 2024 tells a story of unwavering dedication, adaptability, and resilience. Each rescue is a testament to RPF's commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of society.

**Key Milestones:**

- **2018:** The significant launch year saw RPF rescue 17,112 children, including 13,187 runaways, 2,105 missing, 1,091 lost, 400 destitute, 87 kidnapped, 78 mentally challenged, and 131 homeless children. This year highlighted the urgent need for such an initiative.
  
- **2019:** Continued success with 15,932 children rescued, comprising 12,708 runaways, 1,454 missing, 1,036 lost, 350 destitute, 56 kidnapped, 123 mentally challenged, and 171 homeless children.

- **2020:** Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, RPF managed to rescue 5,011 children.

- **2021:** A resurgence in rescue operations with 11,907 children saved, including 9,601 runaways, 961 missing, 648 lost, 370 destitute, 78 kidnapped, 82 mentally challenged, and 123 homeless children.

- **2023:** RPF rescued 11,794 children, including 8,916 runaways, 986 missing, 1,055 lost, 236 destitute, 156 kidnapped, 112 mentally challenged, and 237 homeless children.

- **2024 (first five months):** RPF has already rescued 4,607 children, with 3,430 runaways.

Through its efforts, RPF has not only saved children but also raised awareness about the plight of runaway and missing children, garnering support for further action from various stakeholders. The operation's scope continues to expand, facing new challenges daily to create a safe environment for children within India's vast railway network.

Information about rescued children is available on the Track Child Portal. Over 135 railway stations have child help desks, and RPF hands over rescued children to the District Child Welfare Committee, which reunites them with their parents.
