Kota, Enthusiasm surrounding the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) marked the first day of voting in the Railway Union Recognition Elections in the Kota Division. Similar to the previous elections, the union with the red flag is lagging behind this time as well.
Voting began on December 4 for the recognition of railway unions, with elections scheduled to continue until December 6. Of the total 12,927 votes, 8,393 votes were cast on the first day, recording an impressive voter turnout of approximately 65%. However, with two days of polling still remaining, the final count is expected to increase significantly.
From the outset, the West Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh has strongly advocated for OPS, urging employees to vote against the New Pension Scheme (NPS). Their campaign appears to have resonated with the younger railway staff, whose inclination toward OPS was clearly visible at the polling booths.
The voting process commenced at 7:00 AM, with railway employees lining up enthusiastically to cast their votes and awaiting their turn patiently. The outcome of the elections will be declared on December 12.
The OPS has undeniably emerged as a decisive factor, influencing the preferences of railway employees in this crucial election.
