Chinese Manjha Continues to Wreak Havoc in Kota, Over 60 Injured

Kota, Despite strict measures and continuous action by Kota Police, the use of Chinese manjha (kite string) remains uncontrolled. During Makar Sankranti, the sharp and dangerous string was extensively used for kite flying, resulting in injuries to over 60 people. Even with intensified police action, the manjha was sold in the black market at double the price.

Black marketing of Chinese manjha was reported in areas like Ghantaghar and other parts of the city. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Taylor and his team launched consistent campaigns to curb its sale, arresting multiple sellers and taking stringent action against them. Yet, the use of this hazardous manjha persisted during the festival.

A Dangerous Encounter
At around 3 PM today, near Bhadana Bridge, Chinese manjha brushed against my face and near my eye, causing a deep cut. Thankfully, I was wearing a muffler, which saved my neck from being slashed. For the first time, I realized that Chinese manjha is sharper than a knife and can cause severe injuries, even with minimal contact.

The Need for Collective Action
It is evident that the police alone cannot solve this issue. Public awareness and cooperation are essential. We must refrain from buying Chinese manjha for kite flying and report its sale to the authorities. Only through collective efforts can we put an end to the use of this dangerous string.
