International Cyber Fraud Gang Busted

Kota,  Kota city police have apprehended a gang of four international cyber fraudsters who were involved in sending defrauded money from India to China in collaboration with Chinese cyber criminals. The arrested fraudsters hail from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Kota Police Superintendent Dr. Amrita Duhan revealed the details of the operation during a press conference on Thursday.

Dr. Duhan shared that the operation was carried out under the special campaign "Operation Cyber Shield." The arrested individuals include Akshay Kumar, Ramdeen, Bhom Singh, and Rakesh.

Details of the Incident: Dr. Duhan explained that the accused—Akshay Kumar, Ramdeen, Bhom Singh, and Rakesh—formed a gang with Chinese cyber fraudsters. They would gather money defrauded from Indian citizens and transfer it to other accounts. They would then convert this amount into USDT (cryptocurrency) and send it to Chinese fraudsters.

The accused targeted local residents by enticing them with high commissions, obtaining their bank account details. They sent these details via WhatsApp and Telegram to Chinese cyber criminals, who would transfer the defrauded Indian money into the accounts. The fraudsters would use the money to buy USDT cryptocurrency and send it to China after taking their commission.

The police seized five mobile phones from the accused. Analysis of these devices revealed chats and screenshots from WhatsApp and Telegram, where foreign mobile numbers were used to transfer money into Indian bank accounts and convert it into USDT, which was then sent to international cyber criminals in China.

The accused have been found to have coordinated with Chinese cyber criminals to launder the defrauded money by converting it into USDT. They were using the commission paid by local people to launder the fraud money through cryptocurrency. Based on the ongoing investigation, the police have evidence suggesting that approximately 50 crore rupees worth of USDT have been transferred to foreign cyber criminals.

The investigation is still ongoing, and further details about other members of the gang and the amount involved are being determined.
