###DM and ###MLA Visit Popalti: Investigate Incident, Provide Support to Affected Families

**Udaipur,  Following the tragic incident in Popalti village, Nai Gram Panchayat, where four individuals, including two children, allegedly died from drinking contaminated water, District Collector Arvind Poswal and Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena visited the site on Sunday.

Collector Poswal and MLA Meena gathered information at the scene and consoled the affected families. They also visited the hospital to check on the health of the sick individuals. Patients admitted to CHC Nai were transferred to MB Hospital as a precautionary measure under the Collector's direction. The Collector and MLA also reviewed the treatment of patients at MB Hospital and provided necessary instructions to the medical staff.

**Announcement of Pumphouse Installation and Financial Assistance**

The Collector and MLA inspected the water source from which villagers reportedly drew drinking water. The MLA assured the families of the deceased that they would receive financial assistance and announced a departmental investigation to determine the cause of water contamination. The district administration was directed to arrange for immediate water tankers and campers for the villagers. Additionally, MLA Meena announced the installation of a permanent pumphouse to ensure a reliable drinking water supply.

It is noteworthy that the incident resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two children, and several others falling ill. Under the leadership of CMHO Dr. Shankar Bamaniya, medical teams conducted house-to-house surveys and admitted the sick to hospitals. The situation is currently under control.

**1,575 People Examined, 32 Found Ill**

CMHO Dr. Shankar H. Bamaniya reported that five medical teams led by Deputy CMHO Dr. Ankit Jain and BCMO Dr. Prithviraj Zingar conducted continuous surveys in Popalti. Over two days, 1,575 people were examined, with 32 individuals reporting stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Among them, 13 children and 15 adults were transferred to MB Hospital as a precaution. Patients with mild symptoms were treated at a medical camp set up at the sub-center and CHC Nai under the leadership of Dr. Harish Gurjar and Dr. Meethalal Meena, respectively. Two base ambulances from 108 and one advanced life support ambulance were deployed on-site for emergencies.

**Samples Sent for Testing**

CMHO Dr. Bamaniya reported that three individuals, including two children, died on Saturday due to stomach pain and vomiting, with another young man passing away late Saturday night. Post-mortem examinations were conducted by a medical board, and viscera samples were sent for analysis to determine the exact cause of death. Water samples and vomit and stool samples from the admitted patients were also sent for testing. The survey team purified other water sources such as wells, tube wells, and pumphouses using bleaching powder. The water source linked to the illness was temporarily closed.
