###Government and Administration Serious About Treatment and Relief for Popalti Incident Victims

Udaipur, The government and administration are fully committed to providing relief to the victims and treating the sick in the Popalti village of Nai Gram Panchayat, Girwa subdivision. Allegedly, four people, including two children, died due to drinking contaminated water. On Monday, In-Charge Secretary Smt. Anandi, District Collector Arvind Poswal, and District Chief Mamta Kunwar visited Popalti village to assess the situation. The In-Charge Secretary met with the patients being treated at MB Hospital to check on their well-being.

Following the District Collector's directives, teams from the Medical Department, led by CMHO Dr. Shankar Bamnia, are camping in the village, conducting door-to-door surveys and providing treatment to the sick. So far, a total of 37 people have been admitted to Maharana Bhupal Hospital, where their condition is reported to be improving.

In-Charge Secretary Smt. Anandi and District Collector Arvind Poswal visited MB Hospital on Monday morning. They met with patients admitted to the Medical Emergency, ICU, etc., who were referred from Popalti. The In-Charge Secretary communicated with the patients and their families to understand their condition. Dr. Vipin Mathur, Principal of RNT Medical College, Dr. RL Suman, Superintendent of the Hospital, and other medical officers provided details about the ongoing treatments. The officials reported that all patients are recovering swiftly and are out of danger. The In-Charge Secretary and the District Collector instructed the hospital administration to remain vigilant and be fully prepared for seasonal diseases during the rainy season. CEO of Zila Parishad, Smt. Kirti Rathore, Girwa SDM Riya Dabi, and CMHO Dr. Shankar Bamnia, among other officials, were also present.

**Tour of Affected Areas and Interaction with Residents:**

After visiting the patients at MB Hospital, the In-Charge Secretary and the District Collector reached the Khander and Runia Fala areas of Popalti village. They inspected the pit believed to be the source of the contaminated water causing the illnesses. The officials interacted with local residents to gather information. Arrangements for clean drinking water are being made for the villagers. The In-Charge Secretary and the District Collector assured the villagers of all possible relief and emphasized the state government's sensitivity towards their problems, directing all relevant departments to act with utmost caution as per the state government's instructions.

**Meeting at Circuit House:**

After touring Popalti village, the In-Charge Secretary held a meeting at Circuit House with officials from the Medical and Health Department, Public Health Engineering Department, and local administration. She expressed sorrow over the incident in Popalti village and instructed the officials to remain vigilant in their duties. She emphasized special attention to drinking water quality during the rainy season and raising public awareness about seasonal diseases, along with ensuring necessary arrangements in medical institutions.

**District Chief Also Visits Popalti Village:**

District Chief Mamta Kunwar also visited Popalti village on Monday to meet with the affected families. She consoled the families of the deceased and assured them of all possible financial assistance. She also promised the approval of hand pumps or water points through the Zila Parishad to ensure clean drinking water. She gathered information from the medical teams working on-site and provided necessary directions. Social worker Bhanwar Singh Panwar, Dinesh Dhabhai, Dharmchand Meena, Land Records Inspector Babulal, Patwari Chandraprakash Joshi, and Village Development Officer Arvind Chauhan were also present.

**2295 People Screened, 37 Admitted to MB Hospital So Far:**

CMHO Dr. Bamnia reported that under the direction of administrative officials, medical teams are camping in the village. BCMO, Deputy CMHO, District Public Health Supervisor, and others are continuously monitoring the affected areas. Five teams are conducting continuous surveys in the affected areas. In three days, a total of 2295 people from 369 households have been screened. So far, 37 patients have been admitted to MB Hospital, while 15 patients received on-the-spot treatment. Blood slides of 20 patients have been taken. Samples of water, vomit, and stool have already been sent for testing. Drinking water distribution is being done through water tankers and cans, and extensive publicity is being done to prevent the consumption of contaminated water. 108 and base ambulances are stationed at the camp site. Medical teams have been instructed to continue the survey work until further orders. Nai CHC has been instructed to remain open 24 hours. Activities under the Stop Diarrhea program have been intensified. Adequate supplies of essential medicines like ORS powder, zinc tablets, chlorine tablets, and doxycycline are available.
