One of the oldest institutions in the Udaipur division, "Team Natya Sanstha," which has been representing Udaipur nationally for 54 years through creative activities in art, literature, culture, and theatre, is organizing the three-day national theatre festival, "Udaipur Natya Rang Mahotsav-24" (Udaipur Theatre Festival). This event is being conducted with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan. The festival will take place from 13th to 15th December 2024 at the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi Auditorium in the City of Lakes.
The aim of this festival is to promote cultural activities across the nation, provide opportunities for emerging talent, and bring art and culture to the masses through theatre. By doing so, the festival hopes to enrich Udaipur and its surrounding areas, including its tribal communities. The festival is the brainchild of theatre director Sunil Tank, whose efforts have turned his vision into reality. Tank expressed that this event is a gift for Udaipur and a source of pride for the entire division.
Team Natya Sanstha has worked tirelessly to make this festival a success, and it now belongs to every resident of Udaipur. Co-founders Shailendra Sharma and Rameshwar Gaur stated that entry to the festival will be free of charge for all attendees.
The festival will feature a variety of performances:
On 13th December, the play "Nadi Pyasi Thi" directed by Harmendra Singh from Prayagraj will be staged.
On 14th December, "Ye Aadmi Ye Chuhe", directed by Vijay Jora from Sri Ganganagar, will be performed.
On 15th December, the day will begin with a Rang Samvad (theatrical dialogue) featuring playwright Harish B. Sharma from Bikaner. The festival will conclude with the Jaipur-based play "Kisse Kinare Ke", directed by Abhishek Goswami, in the evening.
Additionally, the festival will showcase Odissi dance performances under the direction of renowned local artist Shaili Srivastava, with presentations of Ganesh Vandana and Vishnu Vandana.
The organization aims to provide a platform for other forms of art, including literature, music, dance, and painting, alongside theatre, ensuring a diverse cultural experience for the audience.
