Udaipur – The Cardiology Department of Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, has successfully performed angioplasty on a 52-year-old patient suffering from severe abdominal pain.

Chairman Ashish Agrawal shared that the patient was admitted with complaints of acute abdominal pain. A CT scan revealed a 99% blockage in the Superior Mesenteric Artery. Following this, a team led by Senior Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Mahesh Jain performed a successful angioplasty and placed a stent to relieve the blockage.

Dr. Vipin Sisodia (Cardiac Anesthesia) and Dr. Vivek Rawat (Surgeon) also played crucial roles during the procedure.

Dr. Mahesh Jain explained that such cases often lead to intense abdominal pain, especially after meals, and could result in intestinal gangrene if left untreated—posing a serious threat to life. The timely intervention ensured the patient’s recovery, and he was discharged within 4-5 days in stable condition.
