Promoting Awareness on Kidney Health and Diseases

Workshop Organized on World Kidney Day

Udaipur,  A workshop was organized today at Pacific Medical College and Hospital on the occasion of World Kidney Day, observed on March 13. The event, aimed at raising awareness about kidney diseases, was jointly conducted by the Department of Nephrology, Urology, and Pacific College of Physiotherapy.

The workshop was inaugurated by Pacific Medical University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.M. Mangal, PMCH Principal Dr. U.S. Parihar, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sunita Maheshwari, Nephrologist Dr. Mohit Naredi, Urologist Dr. Hanumant Singh Rathore, Dr. Kshitij Roka, and Dr. Zafar Khan by lighting a lamp in front of the idol of Goddess Saraswati.

On this occasion, Dr. Mohit Naredi highlighted the rising number of kidney patients over the years. He emphasized that World Kidney Day is observed annually to spread awareness about kidney diseases. This year’s theme, ‘Giving Priority to Early Detection for Healthy Kidneys,’ focuses on identifying kidney issues before they develop into severe conditions. He stressed that timely diagnosis, proper treatment, and adequate care can prevent the severe consequences of kidney diseases. Regular check-ups, appropriate medication, and a proper diet are essential for kidney patients, particularly for those undergoing dialysis or kidney transplants.

Urologist Dr. Hanumant Singh Rathore emphasized the need to raise awareness about urological and kidney-related diseases. He stated that early diagnosis and correct treatment can help control such conditions. He also warned that many urological disorders, if left untreated, could lead to severe kidney diseases. Conditions like urinary tract infections, kidney stones, prostate problems, and urinary obstructions, if neglected, may result in kidney failure.

During the workshop, expert doctors discussed common dialysis-related issues, rehabilitation in kidney diseases, and the role of specific breathing exercises in CKD. A panel discussion was also held on the impact of neuromuscular disorders in kidney diseases and the significance of cardio-pulmonary-metabolic health in kidney patients.
