Paras Healths Successfully Operates on Rare Brain Cyst Tumor

Udaipur, Paras Health Hospital in Udaipur has successfully operated on a rare and large posterior fossa arachnoid cyst in a 50-year-old patient. Arachnoid cysts are a type of rare brain tumor, constituting only one percent of all brain tumors, with giant posterior fossa arachnoid cysts being extremely rare, occurring in only one in thousands. These cysts are mostly congenital and often asymptomatic, but can sometimes cause headaches, dizziness, balance issues, and vomiting.

The patient, Rajpal Singh, had been experiencing headaches, dizziness, memory problems, and balance issues for some time before seeking treatment at Paras Hospital. Senior Consultant Neurophysician Dr. Manish Kulsreshta diagnosed the rare brain tumor through MRI and, after evaluating all results, referred the patient to Paras Udaipur’s neurosurgery team.

Under the leadership of Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon Dr. Ajit Singh, the team performed the operation using microscopic techniques. The surgery lasted four hours, and the patient was discharged two days later. If left untreated, such cysts can lead to serious complications like seizures, which can become more problematic with age.

Post-operation, the patient is fully healthy and able to carry out daily activities without issues. Although these cysts are usually congenital and grow slowly, anyone experiencing headaches, balance issues, memory problems, or vomiting should consult a doctor for evaluation.

Dr. Ajit Singh emphasized the importance of timely treatment for such conditions to prevent severe complications and ensure a better quality of life for patients.
