A two-day capacity-building program on drug addiction, jointly organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development and the National Social Security Institute, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, was held at Sir Pratap College, Jodhpur, under the vigilant leadership of Sangam University. The inaugural session was graced by Mr. Surendra Singh, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, as the chief guest. He extensively discussed the Government of India's initiative and the relevance of the Drug-Free India campaign in the present context.
During the session, Padma Bhushan and former Member of Parliament, Mr. Narayansingh Manaklav, shared his personal experiences and the campaign against substance abuse that he has undertaken himself. Mr. Ghanshyam Soni, Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (N.C.B.), discussed the government's efforts to combat drug-related crimes and the prevention of drug abuse.
The program saw the presence of distinguished individuals such as Prof. Ashish Mathur from Central University, Haryana; Mr. Girish Mathur, Chairperson of Sir Pratap College; Mr. Manoj Hatoj, Deputy Director of the National Social Security Institute; and Mr. Vishal Khandelwal, Director of the Aarambh Seva Sansthan, Bhilwara.
Providing an overview of the program, Dr. Manoj Kumawat, the organizing secretary, mentioned that this workshop has been organized with the leadership of Prof. Karunesh Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of Sangam University, and Prof. Rajeev Mehta, the Registrar. The primary objective of this program, initiated in 2020, is to reach the objectives of the Drug-Free India campaign to the general public through capacity-building among the youth.
The inauguration and proceedings were conducted by Mr. Abhishek Shrivastava, Assistant Registrar of Sangam University, and Dr. Jorawar Singh Ranawat delivered a vote of thanks.
