In a historic moment for Rajasthan, Yuga has made history by securing the first-ever senior gold medal for the state at the 77th Senior National Swimming Championship held from September 10 to 13 in Mangalore, Karnataka. District Sports Officer and swimming coach Dr. Mahesh Paliwal announced that Yuga won the gold medal on the final day of the competition, achieving a remarkable time of 4:36.39 in the 400-meter individual medley.
This win comes as a significant milestone, ending a long dry spell of medals for Rajasthan. The achievement marks the first time in the history of Rajasthan swimming that a champion has emerged in this category. Today will be remembered as a golden day in the history of both Rajasthan and Udaipur swimming.
Despite it being a holiday, the Tarantal Swimming Complex remained open for the event, creating a celebratory atmosphere for all swimmers, coaches, and staff. The moment Yuga clinched the gold, the entire team, including coach Mahesh Paliwal, erupted in joy and shared sweets in celebration.
The Rajasthan Swimming Association has announced a cash prize of ₹100,000 (one lakh rupees) in recognition of Yuga's outstanding accomplishment.
