Jaipur, Pratap University, Jaipur, hosted the grand opening of the North West Zone Inter University Football (Men's) Tournament today. The event features 41 teams representing various universities across the region.
Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee, international athlete Shri Ram Singh Shekhawat, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of such events in fostering enthusiasm for sports and promoting physical fitness among students. Prof. Amarika Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Vikrant University, Gwalior, participated as the guest of honor.
The ceremony was presided over by Pratap University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Abhay Kumar, and featured Mr. Gajendra Singh Rathore, former District Sports Officer, Jaipur, as a distinguished guest. Dr. Vijay Singh, Director of Sports, Kota University, attended as the observer from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Chancellor Dr. Shailendra Bhadoria extended his best wishes for the successful execution of the tournament.
Tournament Director Dr. Kuldeep Singh Jhala shared that 16 knockout matches were conducted on the first day. Pratap University’s team secured a thrilling victory over Brij University, Bharatpur, with a 3-1 score, advancing to the next round.
Organizing Secretary Dr. Nipendra Singh emphasized that the primary goal of this event is to promote sports in the region and nurture a competitive spirit among students.
Registrar Shri Lav Kush stated that the tournament will continue for several days, culminating in the recognition and awarding of the winning team.
This initiative by Pratap University aims to foster enthusiasm for sports and encourage dedication and passion among young athletes.
