Grand Inauguration with Distinguished Guests in Attendance

Gwalior,  The West Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Men’s) Tournament was inaugurated in a grand ceremony at Vikrant University, Gwalior. The event saw enthusiastic participation from universities across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa.

The chief guest, Gwalior MP Bharat Singh Kushwaha, graced the occasion and lauded Vikrant University for successfully organizing the tournament. He stated, “Through this exceptional event, Vikrant University has brought pride to Gwalior while promoting traditional sports.”

The ceremony was presided over by Arjuna Awardee and World Cup-winning international hockey player Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand, who commended the university’s efforts. He remarked, “This initiative is a commendable step towards reviving traditional sports, fostering interest among youth, and strengthening India’s sporting culture.”

Distinguished Guests & Special Performances

Among the notable dignitaries present were Dr. B.R. Srivastava, Director of Cancer Hospital, Gwalior, and Prem Singh Rajput, BJP District President, who extended their best wishes for the event’s success. Vikrant University Chancellor Rakesh Singh Rathore also conveyed his congratulations, highlighting the tournament as an opportunity to showcase the university’s sporting excellence.

Adding grandeur to the event, participating university teams performed a march-past to the tunes of the BSF Band, thrilling the audience. Dr. R.K. Sharma, observer from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, was also present to oversee the event.

Spectacular Opening Match & Cultural Extravaganza

The tournament commenced with an electrifying match in which LNIPE Gwalior triumphed over Hemchand North Gujarat University, Patan, advancing to the next round. Tournament Director Dr. Kuldeep Singh Jhala informed that the first day featured 16 knockout matches, each showcasing intense competition.

Adding a cultural touch, Vikrant University students mesmerized the audience with a vibrant Indian folk dance performance, further enhancing the event’s festive spirit.

Expression of Gratitude & Future Prospects

Vikrant University’s Pro-Chancellor and Sports Board Chairman, Vikrant Singh Rathore, extended gratitude to all dignitaries and participants. He emphasized that the event would bolster the university’s contribution to sports.

With several thrilling matches ahead, the tournament promises to fuel competitive spirit and sportsmanship among university athletes in the coming days.
