Banswara | "With organized, continuous, and dedicated efforts, any goal can be turned into success," a principle proven true by Satyen Paneri, who was recently appointed as an Assistant Professor at Haridev Joshi Government Girls College, Banswara, after being selected by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission. At the age of 23, Satyen secured the 17th position in the state’s list of 147 Assistant Professors in English, bringing pride to his district and inspiring other students.
**Satyen's Journey as a Self-Studied Student**
Satyen completed his school education at Vidya Niketan School in Banswara, New Look Central School in Lodha, and pursued his undergraduate and postgraduate studies as a self-taught student. After completing the first half of his postgraduate degree, he started preparing for the National Eligibility Test (NET). Notably, Satyen did not give up after failing in his earlier attempts, and in his fourth attempt, he achieved success.
During his preparation for the NET and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s Assistant Professor exam, Satyen received valuable guidance and support from Piyush Bhera, the topper of the RPSC 2020 English subject exam, who is currently appointed at Government College, Mandalgarh. Selecting authentic books and reference materials as per the syllabus and regularly studying them in a planned manner were key to his success.
**How Satyen Achieved Success**
Satyen believes that there are three levels of study: reading, reflection, and writing. He emphasized that after studying authentic books, reflecting on the subject matter in the context of the syllabus, and then preparing notes by hand on the topic helps deepen and solidify understanding. He is convinced that online material will not be effective unless it's organized into handwritten notes, which can be used to answer questions in exams.
Satyen also solved nearly 250 question papers from English exams across India, which enhanced his ability to understand and tackle questions effectively.
**Sources of Inspiration**
Satyen credits his grandfather, Lakshmi Narayan Paneri, for instilling self-belief and courage in him. From his grandmother, Pushpa Paneri, and mother, Meenakshi Paneri, he received spiritual and religious teachings, which inspired him to regularly visit the Shiva temple, helping him develop mental strength. Satyen also acknowledged the support of his younger brother, Vedang Paneri, and his friend, Kunal Sharma, who helped relieve his exam stress during the preparation.
**Registered for Ph.D. at Sukhadia University**
Satyen is also registered for a Ph.D. at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. Due to his interest in the study of eternal and profound aspects of Sanatan culture, he is currently researching how Indian culture and philosophy have been applied and demonstrated in English literature under the guidance of his research supervisor, Dr. Kopal Vats.
**Following His Father's Footsteps**
Satyen's father, Dr. Narendra Paneri, serves as an Assistant Professor in Hindi at Shri Govind Guru Government College, Banswara, and is currently on deputation at Govind Guru Tribal University. Like his father, Satyen also relied on self-study to reach his position. This makes them the first father-son duo in Banswara to both be involved in higher education at the same time. Satyen shared that during his 10th grade studies, his father taught him the importance of a disciplined study approach and hard work, demonstrating that success lies in focused preparation and performing to the best of one’s abilities, regardless of the results.
**Satyen's Message to Youth**
For achieving focus, Satyen advises speaking less and listening more. He believes in keeping one’s social circle limited and emphasizes that hard work leads to success. "The fruit of hard work is sweet," he says, acknowledging that there is no alternative to hard work and determination in achieving life’s goals. He adds that if a person is willing to put in the effort, they can achieve anything, but if they shy away from hard work, their success will remain uncertain. The foundation of success in life is based on perseverance, positive thinking, and continuous effort. A person with a positive mindset never thinks negatively. Therefore, it is crucial to eliminate feelings of inferiority and adopt the thought, "What can I not do? Everything is possible." Only then can one reach greater heights.
