Free Distribution of Vegetable Seed Mini Kits to 33,700 Farmers

Udaipur, Under the Chief Minister's Budget Announcement, the Horticulture Department is set to distribute free vegetable seed mini kits to 33,700 farmers in the Rajasthan Horticulture Development Mission for Rabi 2023-24. This initiative aims to encourage traditional crop producers to venture into vegetable production.

Dr. S.L. Jat, Deputy Director of Horticulture, stated that a single vegetable seed mini kit includes seeds for tomatoes, peas, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes, and spinach, totaling 3,700 kits. Additionally, a combo kit comprising a total of 30,000 mini kits will also be distributed. Each mini kit is designed for a 500-square-meter area, with 10 grams of tomato seeds, 4,000 grams of peas, 25 grams of cauliflower seeds, 35 grams of cabbage seeds, 300 grams of radishes, and 1,500 grams of spinach seeds in a single vegetable seed mini kit. In the 100-square-meter area combo kit, there will be 60 grams of spinach seeds, 16 grams of carrots, 1 gram of eggplant seeds, 160 grams of peas, and 12 grams of radishes.

Eligibility Criteria
Dr. Jat explained that under this scheme, selected farmers at the gram panchayat level, who have sufficient irrigation resources, will receive vegetable seed kits based on their Jan Aadhaar cards on the Rajasthan Farmer Verification Portal, coordinated by the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments. Each eligible farmer family will receive one vegetable kit (either a single vegetable seed kit or a combo vegetable seed kit). To be eligible, the farmer must either own the land in their name or provide a National Shareholder Certificate obtained from the revenue/patwari office with their application. Vegetable seed kits will only be distributed to eligible farmers. Priority will be given to elderly, small, marginal, border, and female farmers.

If any farmer is interested in planting vegetables, they should contact their local Agricultural Supervisor or Assistant Agricultural Officer with their Jan Aadhaar card. It's worth noting that before this, in Kharif 2023, 23,700 farmers received single and combo mini kits."
