Excellent Results for Students in Hindustan Zinc's Shiksha Sambal Program*

The students in Hindustan Zinc's Shiksha Sambal program have achieved outstanding results in the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education's recently announced 10th-grade exams. Presently, more than 8,000 students from grades 6 to 12 are benefiting from this program. In the latest 10th-grade results, 91% of students passed, with 37% securing first division. Out of 66 government schools, 24 achieved a 100% pass rate, and 48 schools had results above 90%.

Since the program's inception in the 2016 financial year, the overall pass percentage has increased from 67% to 91%. The percentage of students passing with first division has risen from 14% in 2016 to 37% now. Additionally, the percentage of students failing has decreased from 33% to just 4%. This year, 133 girls from the 10th grade have been selected for the Gargi Award. Similarly, in the recently announced results for the 12th-grade science stream, the Shiksha Sambal program students achieved a pass percentage of 99.31%. The science stream includes 13 senior secondary schools in Hindustan Zinc's operational areas across 7 districts and 6 locations, supporting a total of 195 students.

Under the Shiksha Sambal program, Hindustan Zinc provides additional teaching resources and educational materials in government schools. The program also includes vocational sessions on agriculture, animal husbandry, and electrical trades, offering students practical learning experiences. The initiative aims to enhance students' conceptual understanding through labs and libraries. During the summer vacation, one-month summer camps are organized focusing on intensive academic and extracurricular activities to ensure the overall development of students. During the winter break, students are given deskwork for practice and exam preparation.

The Shiksha Sambal program was launched by Hindustan Zinc in 2017 in partnership with Vidya Bhawan as a technical partner, aiming to innovate education. The program's goal is to support meritorious students in government schools who might otherwise miss out on higher education due to lack of guidance and resources. The program provides subject-based support from additional teachers to students from grades 6 to 12 in seven districts: Udaipur, Salumbar, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Shahpura, and Ajmer. This year, 120 girls from the 10th grade studying under the Shiksha Sambal program have been honored with the Gargi Award.
