Voluntary Organizations Urged to Prioritize Indian Values

Empowering the Marginalized: A Humanitarian Endeavor

Udaipur, 10th December – On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, Nimbaram, a regional pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasized the importance of voluntary organizations in ensuring that the underprivileged receive their rightful entitlements and government benefits. Addressing a one-day workshop for voluntary organizations at the Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, he stated that these organizations must adopt a new approach that prioritizes the nation first, aligning with the true spirit of Indian values. He stressed that the foundation of any organization should not be based on an individual but rather a collective effort, ensuring that work is directed towards the greater good of society and the nation.

The workshop brought together the leaders of 25 voluntary organizations from Rajasthan. Manoj Kumar, who outlined the program's introduction, echoed the importance of focusing on India-first objectives and remaining centered on the nation's welfare. This approach, he argued, will lead to greater awareness within society, ensuring that government schemes reach the most marginalized individuals.

Dr. Meena Kumari, Associate Director at the Deendayal Research Institute, spoke about the crucial role NGOs play in delivering government schemes to the masses. She highlighted the power of the internet in connecting social work to wider communities, urging NGOs to focus on specific areas with regular activities and collaborate with various research institutions. She also discussed the necessary infrastructure for successful implementation, such as having an office, conducting audits, and employing staff and interns for content development.

Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Vice Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, who chaired the event, emphasized that such workshops improve the efficiency and direction of NGOs' operations. He also underscored the importance of research, noting that Human Rights Day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.

In a case study presentation, Vikas Chhajed from the Moti Foundation shared a report illustrating how some voluntary organizations spread division and falsehoods in society, undermining the social fabric.

Manoj Kumar, summarizing the event, urged participants to focus on regular activities, documentation, and coordination. The program was coordinated by Vikas Tank from the Udbhvati Foundation, Ajmer.

The event saw valuable contributions from Kantilal Patiyar of Dungarpur, Bhagirath Choudhary of Barmer, Hardayal from Jaipur, and Parul Tyagi, who all shared their insights. This was the second annual meeting of NGOs operating in Rajasthan, which focus on promoting rights-centered awareness campaigns and ensuring the benefits of government schemes reach the needy. The first meeting was held on December 10th, 2023, in Jaipur.
