Coin and Seal Exhibition Held at Bhupal Nobles University

Udaipur :  A coin and seal exhibition was organized on the second day of the International Seminar jointly conducted by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Bhupal Nobles University, Udaipur, and the Academy of Numismatics and Sigillography, Indore. More than 25 research papers were presented across two technical sessions focusing on ancient coins and seals.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Akhilesh Joshi, Independent Director of Hindustan Zinc Limited, who stated that such exhibitions are significant as they offer insights into historical currencies and seals from various eras. Managing Director of Bhupal Nobles Institution, Mohabbat Singh Rathore, emphasized that numismatics is a science, and the effort to collect and display rare coins is highly commendable.

Finance Minister Shaktisingh Ranawat, Dr. Kamalendra Singh Ranawat, and other dignitaries visited the exhibition and appreciated its educational value for students. Dr. Shashikant Bhatt highlighted the importance of ancient coins as a means to understand history, noting the dedication required to preserve such artifacts.

According to Dr. Pankaj Ameta, organizing secretary of the seminar, rare coins and seals from the Buddhist, Mauryan, Kushan, and British periods were exhibited by Dr. Girish Sharma, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Gupta, R.C. Thakur, Pushpa Khamesra, and others. The exhibition also featured ancient stamps, beads, stone and bone ornaments, and various historical artifacts.

Dean Dr. Shilpa Rathore shared that during the technical sessions, noted numismatist Dr. Prashant Kulkarni and Dr. Shailendra Bhandari delivered in-depth lectures on the significance of coins in understanding social and cultural aspects of history.

The seminar witnessed participation from esteemed numismatists, historians, research scholars, and postgraduate students from across the country. The sessions were coordinated by Dr. Praveena Rathore.
