Udaipur,– In today’s fast-changing social and technological landscape, education must go beyond degrees and be enriched with values and ethics. Emphasizing this vision, a three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Universal Human Values, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), commenced at the Faculty of Management Studies, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Pratapnagar.
Delivering the inaugural address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot stated that Indian culture and traditions have always been unique in the world, where values were naturally imparted through institutions like the family and the gurukul. He expressed concern that the disintegration of joint families has weakened these values, leaving society rudderless. He called such workshops a powerful medium for introspection and social reconstruction.
Subject expert Dr. Alka Swami, Dean of the Faculty of Human Values Education at Bikaner Technical University, highlighted AICTE’s efforts to promote value-based education across India. She stressed the need to balance technical proficiency with inner satisfaction, harmony, continuity, and prosperity, describing them as crucial elements of today’s educational landscape.
Prof. B.K. Sharma also underlined the importance of a value-driven life, while Dr. Saroj Lakhawat, Assistant Dean at BTU, emphasized the relevance of value-oriented education in today’s times.
