Indian film Ishaanou gets red-carpet world premiere in Classic section of prestigious Cannes Film Festival

Mumbai :  Producer and director Aribam Shyam Sharma's National Film Award winning Manipuri language film "Ishanau" (1990), revived by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Founder Director of Film Heritage Foundation, was red-carpeted in the Classic category at the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival in France on Friday.  The world premiere was performed on Friday.
It is the only Indian film to be screened in the Classics section of the Cannes Festival this year.
Ishanau was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the year 1991. Its return to the film festival once again after 32 years is a matter of pride for Indian cinema.
It is worth mentioning that after the revival of the Assamese film Thump by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival last year too, Ishaanou is the third Indian film to receive the honour of a red-carpet world premiere show in the classic category after restoration.
Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Founding Director of the Film Heritage Foundation in France was present during the red-carpet world premiere show of Ishanau at the Cannes Festival. Teesha Cherian, actor of Ishaanu, Kangbam Tomba, actress and politician Khushboo Sundar, actress Mrinal Thakur etc. were also present.
