Third List of Nominated Films and Screening Schedule Announced for JIFF 2025

Jaipur: The third list of nominated films for the 17th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) was announced on Saturday. Scheduled to begin on January 17, 2025, the festival has selected 271 films from 71 countries in 57 languages, chosen from a total of 2408 submissions received from 88 countries. Among these, 156 are Indian films, while 115 are international entries.

 

The first list featured 170 films, the second 42 films, and the newly released third list includes 59 films.

Notably, nearly 100 feature films are part of the nominated lineup, offering audiences a diverse and profound cinematic experience during the festival. All the films are in competition, showcasing the richness and depth of global cinema.

 

Along with the third list, the screening schedule has also been released. Screenings will take place from January 18, starting at 9:00 AM and continuing until 9:00 PM.

 

JIFF Founder-Director Hanu Roj shared that this year’s festival will witness several world and Indian premieres of feature films, providing a unique opportunity for cinema enthusiasts in Jaipur.

 

This year, the number of feature fiction films is the highest, with 75 nominated—a record for any film festival globally. The lineup also includes 22 documentary feature films and a total of 119 short films, alongside web series, animation, and mobile films.

 

The combined production budget of these 271 films is estimated at ₹3,500 crores, and their total runtime is 208 hours.

 

Additionally, nominated screenplays were also announced, with 33 screenplays from 6 countries making the cut. This includes 14 Indian screenplays and 19 international entries.

 

Key Themes of the Films:

The selected films cover a wide range of themes:

Genres: Crime, drama, mystery, action, thriller, horror, psychological, and fantasy.
Inspirational and Family Stories: Social, satirical, and educational tales for children.
Experimental and Artistic: Avant-garde, narrative dramas, and media arts.
Cultural and Historical: Biographies, historical dramas, and cultural heritage.
Social Issues: Women’s empowerment, LGBTQ perspectives, and feminist narratives.
Other Highlights: Science fiction, magical realism, music, dance, and video art.
