Hindustan Zinc Inaugurates 70 New Nand Ghars in Rajsamand, 101 Nand Ghars Established This Year
  • Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, in collaboration with the Anil Agarwal Foundation, inaugurated 70 new Nand Ghars in Rajsamand district. Nand Ghar is a modern Anganwadi initiative that serves as a comprehensive center for women and child development. Prior to this milestone, 31 Nand Ghars were inaugurated in December, bringing the total number of these advanced childcare and women empowerment centers in the district to over 100 this year, significantly strengthening Rajasthan’s Anganwadi infrastructure.

  • The Anil Agarwal Foundation aims to establish 4,200 such centers across 15 districts in Rajasthan, with nearly 700 in Rajsamand alone. Nationally, the Nand Ghar initiative has modernized over 7,500 Anganwadis across 15 states, positively impacting more than 300,000 children and 200,000 women.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Mangalpura School premises in Kuraj, Rajsamand, in the presence of MLA Deepti Maheshwari, Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra, CFO Sandeep Modi, CHRO Munish Vasudeva, Vedanta Group CSR Head Anupam Nidhi, officials from Hindustan Zinc, district administration representatives, village sarpanches, and local community members. The guests inaugurated the Kuraj Nand Ghar by cutting the ribbon, while other Nand Ghars were inaugurated digitally. Symbolic keys were handed over to Anganwadi workers, and learning kits were distributed to children.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Deepti Maheshwari emphasized the importance of modern Anganwadis in fostering holistic community development. She lauded the efforts of Hindustan Zinc and the Anil Agarwal Foundation in strengthening Rajasthan’s early childhood care and education ecosystem, calling it a significant step toward Rajsamand’s development. She stated that the Nand Ghar initiative reflects a shared vision of grassroots development for women and children, supported by the government, district administration, Anil Agarwal Foundation, and Hindustan Zinc.

Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra highlighted Rajasthan’s vast potential and reiterated the company’s commitment to fostering opportunities at the grassroots level. He stated that the inauguration of over 100 Nand Ghars demonstrates Hindustan Zinc’s dedication to empowering women and transforming rural communities by providing access to education, healthcare, and nutrition for children.

Nand Ghar is a flagship community initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. These modern Anganwadis offer holistic development opportunities through nutrition programs, digital early childhood education, healthcare services, and women empowerment activities. With the latest inaugurations in Kuraj, Hindustan Zinc continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening grassroots development in Rajasthan’s rural communities through its existing Nand Ghars in Rajsamand and Relmagra blocks. This expansion aligns with the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s ambitious vision of establishing 25,000 Nand Ghars across Rajasthan over the next two years, promoting sustainable rural transformation.

Equipped with e-learning tools and healthcare services, Nand Ghars are setting a new benchmark for rural community development, reinforcing Vedanta and Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainable development and social transformation in India. In addition to nutrition, education, and healthcare, Hindustan Zinc’s social impact extends to women empowerment, skill development, water and sanitation, infrastructure improvements, and grassroots support for football, arts, and culture. Through key initiatives like Shiksha Sambal, Jeevan Tarang, Unchi Udaan, Zinc Football Academy, Sakhi, and Samadhan, Hindustan Zinc has positively impacted nearly 2 million people across 4,000 villages. Recognized among India’s top 10 CSR companies, Hindustan Zinc’s initiatives reflect its commitment to building a self-reliant Rajasthan, fostering inclusivity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
