Hindustan Zinc Limited, India's largest and the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer, has been honored with six awards at the 28th Bhama Shah Awards. The awards were presented to Hindustan Zinc’s Chanderia Lead Zinc Smelter, Zinc Smelter Debari, Rajpura-Dariba Complex, Jawar Mines, Rampura Agucha Mine, and Kayad Mine for their positive contributions to the education sector.
The company has contributed over ₹92 crore in the past three years towards educational initiatives, including the "Shiksha Sambal" project and other educational programs. Of this amount, ₹19 crore was contributed last year, earning recognition through these awards.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur. The event was attended by Rajasthan's Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Tribal Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, and other notable figures including MPs Dr. Panna Lal Rawat, Chunni Lal Garasia, Phool Singh Meena, Pratap Lal Gameeti, Tarachand Jain, Udaylal Dangi, Dr. Govind Singh Dang, Mrs. Mamta Kunwar, District Chief Krishna Kunal, and various government officials.
Hindustan Zinc has consistently supported female education, providing all possible assistance to ensure their success. The awards reflect the company’s commitment to education and reinforce the credibility of its CSR initiatives aimed at improving literacy by facilitating access to quality education in rural communities.
Their educational initiatives include additional faculty for subjects such as mathematics, English, and science in government secondary and higher secondary schools, school renovations, construction of Anganwadi centers, IIT coaching under the “Unchi Udaan” program, support for higher education at Ringas College, provision of furniture and safety equipment for libraries and laboratories, books and study materials for teachers, workshops for government teachers, summer training camps, training for newly appointed teachers under the Shiksha Sambal project, clean drinking water for children at child welfare centers, distribution of school uniforms, support for block-level sports competitions, financial aid for block-level science fairs, construction of classrooms in various government schools, toilets for boys and girls, installation of tubewells, provision of green boards, waterproofing of school roofs, construction of underground tanks, and educational and health assessments at over 300 Anganwadi centers. Through these projects, Hindustan Zinc benefits more than 200,000 children annually.
