Over 200,000 Beneficiaries from the Company’s Educational Projects

Hindustan Zinc Pioneering the Path to a Brighter Future through Education Initiatives

Hindustan Zinc, a leading global producer of zinc, lead, and silver, is playing a pioneering role in shaping the future of India’s children through education. As a responsible corporate entity, the company has impacted the lives of over 200,000 children in Rajasthan through its various educational initiatives, helping them move toward a brighter future. Hindustan Zinc believes that today's children are the future of tomorrow’s India, and its goal is to ensure that all children have access to quality education and healthcare.

The company is actively working to provide the best education, nutrition, and health support to schoolchildren in seven districts of the state, ensuring that they contribute to a stronger nation and a better tomorrow.

Transforming Anganwadis with 'Bal Vikas' and 'Nand Ghar'

Hindustan Zinc has launched the Bal Vikas Project, aimed at the holistic development of children. The initiative operates in collaboration with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department across 14 Anganwadi centers in five districts of Rajasthan, including Udaipur, Salumber, Rajsamand, and Chittorgarh. The project focuses on strengthening the six key services provided under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), such as providing nutritious food, implementing early childhood education, and improving children's health, hygiene, and sanitation.

The company has also upgraded 3,292 Anganwadi centers across 15 districts, transforming them into Nand Ghars (digital learning centers). These centers are equipped with toys, smart TVs for e-learning, RO water systems, child-friendly toilets, and a safe, secure environment. The transformation of Anganwadis into Nand Ghars has led to a greater attachment from both children and the community, with many parents now opting to send their children back to these centers instead of private schools.

Focus on Educational and Sports Development

Under its Shiksha Sambal Program, Hindustan Zinc is providing quality education in subjects like Science, Mathematics, and English. Currently, over 8,000 students across 72 government schools are benefiting from this program, which has also led to improvements in board exam results. Over the past seven years, more than 55,000 students have benefited from the Shiksha Sambal initiative.

Additionally, the company runs a coaching program called Unchi Udaan, which offers coaching for talented students to help them gain admission to renowned engineering institutes. To date, over 300 students have participated in the program and appeared for the JEE exams, with six batches successfully securing admissions to government engineering colleges.

Hindustan Zinc has also launched a major initiative to promote sports with the Zinc Football Academy, which plays a crucial role in nurturing football talent. Over 350 students have benefited from the academy, contributing to the growth of football both in Rajasthan and across India.

Equal Opportunities for All

The company’s commitment to providing education to all is reflected in its Jeevan Tarang Program, which benefits children with disabilities. Over the past seven years, more than 900 children have received support through this program, which encourages disabled children and adults to become contributing members of their families and communities. Hindustan Zinc has provided sign language training to students, their instructors, and parents, ensuring their integration into mainstream society.

Contribution to Government Schools

Hindustan Zinc has made significant contributions to the development of government secondary and higher secondary schools, including:

  • Providing additional teachers for Mathematics, English, and Science subjects.
  • Renovating schools and supporting higher education for girls at Rangs Mahavidyalaya.
  • Supplying furniture and safety equipment for school libraries and laboratories.
  • Conducting workshops for government teachers and providing study materials.
  • Offering support for district and block-level sports competitions, science fairs, and building infrastructure like classrooms, toilets, and water supply systems in schools.

Focus on Rural and Tribal Communities

As part of its social responsibility, Hindustan Zinc is committed to improving the lives of rural and tribal communities near its operational areas. The company ranks among India’s top 10 companies in terms of CSR expenditure and is currently benefiting over 20 lakh people in 3,700 villages across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

Through these initiatives, Hindustan Zinc is actively contributing to the educational upliftment and overall development of communities, helping build a brighter future for the children of today and tomorrow.
