Vedanta Presents Jaipur’s Jaigarh Heritage Festival: A Cultural Celebration

Jaipur, December 2024: The much-awaited Jaigarh Heritage Festival, presented by Vedanta, will take place from December 27 to December 29, 2024, at the historic Jaigarh Fort. This unique festival will showcase Rajasthan’s rich traditions, magnificent architecture, and vibrant art and culture. As part of Vedanta’s #ArtInEveryHeart initiative, the three-day festival will offer an unforgettable journey through history, music, and community, held at one of Rajasthan’s oldest medieval monuments, Jaigarh Fort.

Throughout the festival, attendees will experience folk and classical performances that honor Rajasthan’s artistic heritage. The event is organized in collaboration with Vedanta and the royal family of Jaipur, with Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur and Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited and Non-Executive Director of Vedanta, spearheading the cultural initiative. Their shared goal is to globally highlight Rajasthan’s unique heritage and promote its cultural vibrancy on the world stage.

This year’s festival features 10 major attractions, including:

  1. Admiring the Grandeur of Jaigarh Fort
    Explore the magnificent Jaigarh Fort and other architectural heritage landmarks through guided heritage walks, workshops, and engaging discussions, offering deeper insights into Jaipur's architecture and the royal family’s conservation efforts.

  2. Nand Ghar Experience Centre: A Celebration of Inclusive Development
    The Nand Ghar Experience Centre, operated by Vedanta’s social impact branch, the Anil Agarwal Foundation, will highlight India’s cultural diversity. The center will feature skill development workshops such as block printing, diya painting, puppet making, and playing khartal, with attendees actively participating.

  3. Daiichi and Upaya: Women’s Empowerment through Entrepreneurship
    Discover premium clothing and food products created by women-run self-help groups under Hindustan Zinc’s "Sakhi" and "Micro-Enterprise" initiatives. A special ramp walk will unveil this year’s winter collection, where attendees can purchase handmade products.

  4. Exhibition on Traditional Buttermilk Making
    Join the exhibition by the women of the Samadhan project, showcasing the traditional method of bilona buttermilk preparation, promoting sustainable food practices and highlighting Rajasthan's rural culinary traditions.

  5. Uthori Street Play: A Step Toward Gender Equality
    Be part of a powerful street play under the Uthori initiative, advocating gender inclusion and equality. The play addresses crucial issues like menstrual health, child marriage, and gender-based violence, raising awareness and reducing social stigma.

  6. Ruma Devi’s Vision: Crafting Innovation
    Witness the extraordinary craftsmanship of Ruma Devi, recipient of the Women’s Honor Award. Supported by Cairn Oil & Gas through market linkages, Ruma Devi’s work empowers rural artisans and brings their crafts to the global stage.

  7. G.G. Bai Initiative: The Magic of Millets
    Taste millet cookies made by women of the G.G. Bai self-help group, supported by Cairn Oil & Gas. This initiative promotes women's economic independence and healthy snacking, especially in the Barmer district of Rajasthan.

  8. Maru Sagar Dairy Products: Empowering Rural Farmers
    Maru Sagar, a Cairn Oil & Gas initiative, supports over 6,600 dairy farmers across 63 villages in Rajasthan. The project addresses issues like milk adulteration and middlemen exploitation, increasing rural income while preserving traditional practices.

  9. Bhopi Bhopa Folk Art: Singing Stories
    Enjoy heartfelt performances by Bhopi Bhopa artists, supported by Cairn Oil & Gas. These traditional storytellers keep Rajasthan’s rich folklore alive, preserving this unique art form for future generations.

  10. TACO’s Organic Diyas: A Sustainable Light
    Experience hand-crafted diyas made from cow dung by The Animal Care Organization (TACO). These diyas symbolize compassion, sustainability, and animal welfare, created using a blend of Multani mitti and organic cow products.

The Jaigarh Heritage Festival is not just an event, but a celebration of Jaipur's heritage, Rajasthan’s traditions, and a meaningful platform for social change.
