Self-Defense Training for Girls on National Girl Child Day

Jaisalmer, Under the leadership of the district administration and the Department of Women Empowerment, a National Girl Child Day program was held on Friday at Mahatma Gandhi Government Higher Secondary School in the I.G.N.P. Colony and at the main Medical and Health Center. This year's theme focused on better opportunities and empowerment for girls.

Various activities were organized at the school premises, where girls showcased their exceptional talents in art, rangoli, music, and more. During the event, Deputy Director Ashok Kumar Goyal emphasized observing National Girl Child Day as a Day of Strength and called for coordinated efforts to achieve the dream of empowering girls through education, safety, health, and protection.

Doctor Manisha Mathur provided information on menstrual health and hygiene for adolescent girls and stressed the need to create a positive environment for their overall development while eliminating societal discrimination to establish equality.

On this occasion, Protection Officer Chandraveer Singh Bhati spoke about the constitutional rights of girls and the existing laws for their protection, stressing the importance of legal awareness to prevent them from becoming victims of crime.

Kalika Patrolling Unit members Nirmala Meena and Magi Choudhary taught self-defense techniques to the girls, highlighting how such training boosts self-confidence. They also shared information about police helplines available for women.

The girls participating in the activities were awarded Oxford Dictionaries as prizes. The program was conducted by teacher Deepika Ranga, and at the end of the event, Principal Ramaram expressed gratitude to all participants.
