In a revolutionary step towards changing societal norms around marriage, Udaipur is set to witness its first-ever "30-Year Pranaya Anubandh" (Marriage Pact). Eleven couples will embark on their marital journey with a formal commitment of 30 years — a symbolic expression of long-term love, loyalty, and mutual responsibility.
The driving force behind this initiative, Akash Bagdi, revealed that the entire wedding ceremony will be conducted absolutely free of cost. Not a single rupee will be taken from any of the parties involved.
Addressing the press conference, advocate Nirmal Pandit emphasized that this event marks the sowing of a new ideology — one that values love, commitment, and social responsibility over lavish expenditures.
The celebration will take place on May 17 beginning with a wedding procession from Bohra Ganesh Temple. The baraat will pass through Sukhadia University before reaching Satyam Garden, where the marriage rituals will be performed.
Each couple will be accompanied by ten guests, for whom food arrangements have been made. The event will also feature a special cultural segment titled "Ek Shaam Durga Ke Naam".
Adding to the joy, each bride will receive a Fixed Deposit of ₹21,000 as a token of support and goodwill.
Over 10,000 people are expected to witness this unique ceremony. As a part of their wider social commitment, the organizing team has also installed a water cooler at MLSU’s Nehru Hostel campus, where young women are being trained in fashion designing.
In addition, 129 women are currently being trained in the art of sewing, out of which 70 will be gifted sewing machines — enabling them to become self-reliant and financially empowered.
This inspirational event aims to eliminate the financial burden of traditional weddings and promote the values of dignity, simplicity, and dedicated partnership in marital life.
