Jaipur- Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), in collaboration with other Oil Marketing Companies under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), launched a comprehensive door-to-door LPG safety campaign on March 5, 2024. The campaign is set to conduct free Basic LPG Safety Checks (BSC) for households across India.
In Rajasthan, the initiative aims to reach 32 lakh customers, including 22.8 lakh from low-income and slum areas. As of now, over 30.42 lakh BSCs have been completed, marking significant progress toward ensuring LPG safety in the state.
Trained LPG delivery personnel visit homes to inspect LPG installations, hoses, and regulators. They also offer replacements with ISI-approved Suraksha hoses at discounted rates. The checks are carried out using a mobile app-based checklist, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Customers are educated about proper LPG handling, emergency procedures, and the helpline number (1906) for immediate assistance.
The primary objective of the campaign is to raise awareness about LPG safety, prevent accidents, and make homes safer, especially in rural and economically disadvantaged areas with a special focus on beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and low-income groups, ensuring inclusive safety benefits.
In addition to the ongoing safety campaign, the LPG industry launched the “Sense of Duty” campaign in November 2024, which will run until December 31, 2024. This initiative is accompanied by customer-centric activities, including a PAN India cooking competition held on December 1, 2024, to further promote LPG safety across the country.
Through these efforts, IndianOil and MoPNG are committed to providing millions of households with the knowledge and safety measures needed to handle LPG safely, ensuring a safer cooking environment for all, particularly in underprivileged areas.
