As per the instructions of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress, former Minister and MLA Arjun Bamaniya, along with divisional in-charge MLA Ratan Devasi, addressed the press in Udaipur district, discussing the completion of one year under the BJP government in Rajasthan.
They stated that the BJP government has failed to provide any relief to the public during its tenure. Issues related to inflation, unemployment, atrocities against women, and farmers' problems have not been addressed effectively by the government.
The delay in implementing public welfare schemes and the government's indifference to issues concerning the common people have led to growing dissatisfaction among the public. The lack of development work and the government's failure clearly indicate that the BJP government has not lived up to the expectations of the people.
Former Minister Arjun Singh Bamaniya emphasized that the BJP should treat its election manifesto as an official document and fulfill the promises made, many of which remain unfulfilled. He pointed out that the farmer's honor fund of ₹12,000 annually has not been provided, and the promised bonus for wheat procurement at ₹2,700 per quintal has proven to be a mere slogan. He also highlighted the shortage of DAP fertilizer, leading to black marketing.
Bamaniya further criticized the government for failing to deliver on its promise of providing one lakh government jobs to youth within a year, and for not disbursing unemployment benefits for 11 months. He also mentioned that the examination for 23,000 sanitation worker posts had been canceled.
On the issue of women’s safety, he noted that despite claims of prioritizing women's security, the government has not implemented the promised 50% reservation for women in teacher recruitment. He also pointed out that despite half of the academic session passing, 69 lakh students have not received uniforms, leading to a 10% decline in enrollments in government schools.
Rajasthan’s first aviation university has also not been established.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President and Divisional In-charge MLA Ratan Devasi stated that while the BJP government talks about women’s safety and welfare, there have been 7,000 incidents of brutality against girls and women, and nearly 40,000 cases of crimes against women in the state.
Devasi also criticized the government's handling of electricity and water supply issues, with power cuts of up to 12 hours in villages, towns, and cities, and the government's failure to provide adequate water supply in several areas. Additionally, he pointed out the increase in fuel surcharges and the introduction of a 10% hike in fixed charges, while over 30 lakh consumers have been deprived of electricity subsidies.
He also mentioned that the promise of providing six hours of electricity to farmers has turned out to be another unfulfilled claim.
Devasi highlighted the rising inflation, with petrol prices being ₹10 higher than neighboring states, and the government's decision to increase the cost of land plots by eight times, after ending the previous Congress government’s scheme of providing plots at ₹500.
He accused the BJP government of being involved in corruption and scandals, including land purchase scandals along the border, cooperative bank frauds, and manipulation of evidence in judicial processes related to the paper leak case.
The press conference was also attended by former MLA Preeti Shaktawat, Tarachand Meena, state Congress spokesperson Pankaj Kumar Sharma, former MLA Trilok Purbiya, Dehat Congress President Kachru Lal Choudhary, City Congress President Fateh Singh Rathod, Block Presidents Ajay Singh, Abhimanyu Singh Jhalla, Gajendra Kothari, Dehat Spokesperson Sanjeev Rajpurohit, former ward councilor Madan Bawarwal, Bharat Ameta, Shiv Shankar Menaria, and other Congress leaders.
