Jaipur: Sapta Shakti Command of Indian Army is set to organise an interaction with Veterans & Veernaris on March 26, 2025 at Churu, honouring the sacrifices and contributions of ex-servicemen, war widows, and the families of martyrs. The solemn event will also feature the inauguration of the Veergati Smarak, a tribute to the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. This historic smarak is dedicated to the immortal heroes of the district who sacrificed their lives in the defence of the motherland.
The event will be attended by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance will be Lieutenant General Suresh Chandra Tandi, Director General of Ordnance Services (DGOS) and Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, Corps Commander, Chetak Corps. Special invitations have been extended to Veernaris, ex-servicemen and their families.
Approximately, 25,000 people from the district have served or are currently serving in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Since World War II, the district has lost 89 brave soldiers in the line of duty. Additionally, the district boasts several gallantry award winners, Including 1 Maha Vir Chakra, 1 Military Cross, 3 Kirti Chakras, 2 Vir Chakras, 4 Shaurya Chakras, 30 Sena/Nau Sena Medals and 1 Yudh Seva Medal. This grand smarak is a tribute to the nation's martyrs and has been constructed in memory of the late Shri Bhanwarlal ji and Sampat Devi Hirawat, with the support of their sons, Shri Basant ji Hirawat and Shri Abhay ji Hirawat and their family. The magnificence of this smarak is further enhanced by a decommissioned battle tank, large statues of soldiers and stone artwork depicting significant moments from various battles fought by the indian army. The inauguration ceremony will witness the presence of a large number of veterans, district administration officials and esteemed guests from the Hirawat family.
