Udaipur: A major meeting of agriculture scientists and forestry experts was held today at the District Council office under the chairmanship of MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat. The purpose of the meeting was to bring necessary changes in the rural economy of Mewar and Vagad in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, and to increase the income of farmers. The meeting focused on inclusive development tailored to the local climate, with discussions on horticultural development, agricultural advancement, integrated farming concepts, and large-scale fruit production, along with various schemes and potential methods.
In line with the proposal from Udaipur MP, Dr. Rawat expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, for the approval of an ICAR project aimed at enhancing the quality of custard apples in Mewar through tissue culture.
Present at the meeting were representatives from the Forest Department, Maharana Pratap Agricultural and Technology University, Udaipur, and horticulture and agricultural experts from ICAR Kajri Jodhpur and Afri Jodhpur. The session also included discussions on ongoing research projects, the application of Israeli agricultural methods in Rajasthan, and experiences shared from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) projects.
Dr. Rawat further suggested that for better integration and effectiveness of ongoing projects, new initiatives could be undertaken in coordination with the Government of India's Earth Aaba Tribal Upliftment Scheme, as well as with DMFT (District Mineral Foundation Trust) or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds.
The meeting was attended by ICAR Kajri Head Dr. A.K. Shukla, Senior Officials Prof. R.L. Soni, Dr. Amit Trivedi, Anurag Bhatnagar, Dr. Virendra Singh, Dr. Siddharth, Dr. Rajeshwari Ranawat, Dr. Kailash Sharma, Mukesh Saini, and other concerned officials.
