Parents Should Focus on Their Children's Inner Qualities and Skills Rather Than Physical Appearance: Rajendra Gamth

Udaipur: Parents should pay more attention to their children's inner qualities and skills instead of their physical appearance and encourage them accordingly. This will help enhance their self-confidence. These thoughts were expressed by Rajendra Gamth, President of Mahaan Seva Sansthan, while addressing the villagers at the 'Pehchaan' program organized at the Shobhapura Gram Panchayat headquarters in the Badgaon block. The Sarpanch of Shobhapura Gram Panchayat, Mrs. Jasoda Dangi, chaired the event and administered the oath to all attendees.

Anu Jain from Mahaan Seva Sansthan explained that this campaign aims to increase self-esteem and physical confidence, especially among adolescents, particularly girls, while freeing them from traditional beauty standards, promoting self-acceptance and empowerment. Ramesh Nagda, Coordinator of the Pehchaan Awareness Campaign, shared that the program began on February 13. Four awareness chariots, led by teams of artists, performed street plays and presented songs, folk songs, dances, and video shows on topics like body image, physical appearance, gender discrimination, and the impact of social media. The themes included "Samaanata Ro Swaroop," "Kad Kathai Ro Guman," "Sancho Maan," "Social Media Ro Sach," and "Rangbhed aur Antarik Shakti Ki Pehchaan." The teams of artists were led by Baluram Bhat, Ram Avtar Meena, Ramlal Meena, and Baluram Meena.

The Pehchaan Awareness Campaign conducted its activities every morning at 8 AM, mobilizing people through awareness chariots in every street, sharing information on public notice boards at government schools, via drum beats and speakers at village chowpals, and through social media in collaboration with Panchayat representatives. These efforts resulted in significant participation from parents and villagers. The program was coordinated by Dayal Nagda, Jitendra Yadav, Ramesh Paliwal, and Siyarama Bairagi from Mahaan Seva Sansthan.

Doctors from the sub-health center, Jitendra Mehta (President of Alert Sansthan), Development Officer of the Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayats, Village Development Officers, CBOs from the Education Department, Headmasters, and teachers of schools provided valuable support to the program. The event also saw the participation of Anganwadi workers, SMC members, ASHA workers, and women from Rajeevika self-help groups. Approximately 30,000 people from 58 villages across 29 Gram Panchayats in the Badgaon block were made aware and administered an oath. In the next phase, similar programs will be held in 58 villages across 26 Panchayats of the Kurbad block until February 26.
