Mewar Writers Chetan Audichya and Suresh Salvi Represent at Jaipur Literature Festival

Udaipur: As part of the Rajasthan Government’s budget announcement, the three-day *Vijaydan Detha Literature Festival* was grandly held at the Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) in Jaipur, curated by the Grassroots Media Foundation. The event was inaugurated by Ravi Jain, Secretary of the Department of Art and Culture, Alka Meena, Additional Director General of JKK, and Pramod Sharma from Grassroots Media.

This state-level literary festival featured discussions on the literary contributions of Vijaydan Detha, with prominent state authors participating. Notably, two writers from Mewar, acclaimed poet and painter Chetan Audichya, and Dr. Suresh Kumar Salvi, head of the Department of Rajasthani Language at Sukhadia University, represented the region.

The festival celebrated various aspects of language with sessions dedicated to renowned figures such as Rani Lakshmi Kumari Chundawat, Sitaram Lals, Kishore Kalpana Kant, Chatar Singh Bavji, Narsingh Rajpurohit, Om Purohit Kagad, and Kanhiya Lal Sethia. Speaking on the topic *"Bhasha Ri Ramjhol Kun Si Rajasthani"*, Chetan Audichya explained that Rajasthani language is more comprehensive than many others, enriched with words from dialects like Mewadi, Marwari, Dhandhadi, Hadoti, Wagdi, Bagdi, Ahirwati, Rangdi, and Braj. He highlighted that while dialects are spoken differently in various regions, efforts from the government and organizations can bring uniformity to the standard form of the language. Dr. Suresh Salvi, on the other hand, discussed the scientific aspects and grammatical rules of Rajasthani.

In the closing session, Chief Guest IAS Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni emphasized the collective responsibility of promoting Rajasthani language, stating that the variety of dialects within a language is a sign of its richness. He also encouraged the use of Rajasthani, noting its grammatical structure and the fact that it is written in the Devanagari script. Omkar Singh Lakhawat assured that the state government is committed to promoting Rajasthani and preserving its art and culture. Alka Meena, Additional DG of JKK, thanked the state government, all authors, and participants for their contributions.
