Sadhvi Sanyamlatashri Emphasizes the Power of Three Gunavratas and Five Anuvratas

Udaipur — Addressing a religious assembly at Sector 4 Shri Sangh, renowned Jain nun Sraman Sanghavi Jain Divakarya Mahasadhvi Dr. Sanyamlatashri, along with Dr. Amitapragya M.Sa., Kamalapragya M.Sa., and Saurabhapragya M.Sa., spoke on the importance of the Three Gunavratas and Five Anuvratas. She highlighted how these vows infuse power, enhance their significance, and address the challenges associated with their observance.

Sadhvi Sanyamlatashri explained that the concept of directional boundaries, or the limits of movement in various directions, is embodied in the Directional Limitation Vow (Disha Parimaan Vrat). She likened this vow to a protective boundary, similar to the Lakshman Rekha drawn by Lakshman to safeguard Sita’s chastity. Just as Sita faced danger upon crossing the boundary, practitioners must be cautious not to overstep their own limits, as doing so may lead to risks in their lives.

She further elaborated that within the playing field of life, as determined by the practitioner, the layperson must play their role as a player. If they exceed their defined boundaries in any direction, they are considered "out."

Sadhvi Saurabhapragya added that listening to the truth reflects the soul's mirror, showcasing one's inner self. She emphasized that hearing others' criticism is a misuse of the ears, while listening to virtues is a proper use. Both criticizing and listening to criticism are harmful. The best use of one’s ears is to avoid hearing anything that may generate attachment or aversion.
