Saras to Set Up 3 Lakh-Litre Capacity Plant

The Udaipur Milk Producers Cooperative Union (Saras) will establish a new plant with a processing capacity of 3 lakh liters of milk. The existing plant, built in 1983, has a capacity of 1.10 lakh liters, while the daily milk inflow stands at 1.50 lakh liters. This has resulted in the plant operating continuously throughout the year.

The dairy union has submitted a project proposal to the state government, estimating a cost of around ₹150 crore. Out of the existing 50 bighas of land, 5 bighas will be allocated for the new plant.

The plant will be fully automated and will also produce dairy products such as ice cream, sweets, and other items. According to the Dairy Union Chairman Dalchand Dangi, a meeting with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is scheduled for January 22 to discuss the project. The government may announce the plant in the upcoming budget, and assistance from the central government will be sought if necessary.

The enhanced plant capacity will address the challenges of increased milk production for the next 20 years. Additionally, new milk vendors will be able to join the union, benefiting 12,500 members and 560 committees in the district.
