Udaipur: The residents of Morwal, a remote tribal area in the Gogunda region, had a special day on Wednesday as the District Collector, Namit Mehta, along with his administrative team, visited the village for a night 'Chaupal.' The local villagers eagerly presented their grievances, and the District Collector promptly directed officials to resolve them.
The event took place at the Atal Seva Kendra in Morwal, located approximately 50 kilometers from the district headquarters, nestled among the Aravalli hills. The District Collector, sitting on a makeshift dais, engaged in an open dialogue with the villagers, who were seated on one side, and the departmental officials, who sat on the other. The Collector acted as a mediator, working towards providing relief to the residents.
**Key Issues Discussed:**
- The villagers requested a doctor at the existing sub-health center. The District Collector directed officials to propose the opening of a primary health center and assign a GNM (General Nurse Midwife) to the sub-health center.
- On the demand for additional classrooms at schools, the Collector instructed officials to propose the repairs under the DMFT (District Mineral Foundation Trust) and to carry out water harvesting work.
- The villagers raised the issue of a rough road connecting Morwal to Kalunda village, and the Collector ordered the proposal for road paving to be sent to the DMFT.
- Local demands included access to drinking and irrigation water near the nearby Devas III Tunnel. The Collector assured that the irrigation department would meet with the villagers to address the issue.
- Concerns about power poles blocking roads and requests for higher capacity transformers were also raised. The Collector instructed officials to inspect these issues and ensure quick resolutions.
- The villagers requested the conversion of the local high school into an English medium school and the allocation of land for a playground. The Collector directed the education department to prepare a proposal and instructed the Tehsildar to send a proposal for land allocation.
- Additionally, the villagers raised concerns about the dilapidated animal health sub-center building, the need for better mobile network connectivity, improved road infrastructure, and the construction of a road to the cremation ground. The District Collector assured them of proper action on all these issues.
District Council CEO Riya Dabi, Gogunda SDM Shubham Bhairesare, and officials from various departments, including medical, education, water supply, electricity, agriculture, and women and child development, were also present at the Chaupal.
