Udaipur – Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, has conferred a Ph.D. degree upon Mukesh Kumar Sharma in the Faculty of Humanities for his research titled *"Environmental Concerns in Indian Contemporary Art: A Study in the Context of Environmental Art."* Dr. Sharma carried out his research under the guidance of Prof. Hemant Dwivedi from the Department of Visual Arts at the university.
In his research, Dr. Sharma explored the role of environmental preservation in Indian art, highlighting innovative artistic mediums. This study is significant for understanding the styles and techniques of environmental artists around the world and is relevant for the topics under the new National Education Policy. The research also involved an interview with Prof. Him Chatterjee, a renowned artist from Shimla University.
During this occasion, faculty members from the Department of Visual Arts, including Dr. Shahid Parvez, Dr. Deepika Mali, Dr. Sunil Nimavat, Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Dr. Sachin Dadhich, Dr. Suraj Soni, Shalini, Rakesh Singh, and Kumudini, were present.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Sharma has been actively raising awareness about environmental conservation through art for over a decade. He has organized several art residencies across Rajasthan to promote this cause.
