Training on Nutritional and Medicinal Importance of Mushrooms

On July 20, 2024, a one-day mushroom training program was organized under the auspices of the All India Coordinated Mushroom Research Project, Directorate of Research, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) in the Gram Panchayat Som. Farmers and women from 22 villages of the Phalasiya Panchayat Samiti participated in the training.

**Main Objectives and Topics of the Training**

During the training, Project In-Charge Dr. N.L. Meena delivered a detailed lecture on the significant properties of mushrooms and the cultivation of oyster and milky mushrooms. He highlighted that mushrooms are not only rich in nutritional values but also possess medicinal importance.

**Mushroom Cultivation as an Additional Source of Income in Agriculture**

Assistant Agriculture Officer of Phalasiya Panchayat Samiti, Mr. Shiv Dayal Meena, emphasized the need to promote mushroom cultivation as an additional source of income in agriculture. He also provided information about various welfare schemes of the Rajasthan government for scheduled tribe farmers.

**Practical Knowledge and Material Distribution**

Dr. Suresh Kumar, Mr. Avinash Kumar Nagda, and Kishan Singh Rajput imparted practical knowledge about mushroom cultivation to the participants. At the end of the training, essential materials were distributed to a total of 30 trainees under the Tribal Sub-Plan.

Thus, this one-day training program played a crucial role in explaining the nutritional and medicinal importance of mushrooms and encouraging their cultivation among farmers.
