"A Tree in the Name of Mother" Campaign: MPUAT Holds Massive Tree Plantation Program

Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, organized a significant tree plantation event across eight districts under the "A Tree in the Name of Mother" campaign on the occasion of World Population Day. This initiative is part of the university's commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.

The event was graced by the honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, and took place at the organizing directorates, colleges, and agriculture science centers affiliated with MPUAT. A total of 742 trees including mango, guava, neem, sheesham, peepal, ashoka, bottle palm, and bamboo were planted during this extensive campaign.

Dr. Karnataka emphasized the crucial role trees play in our ecosystem, providing oxygen, reducing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance, and offering nourishment. He urged all directors, deans, staff, and students to actively participate in tree planting and care, to keep our environment clean and green.

The event also included an oath-taking ceremony where agricultural scientists and research students pledged to continue innovating in fields such as agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, poultry farming, rabbit farming, goat farming, mushroom cultivation, fish farming, organic farming, agricultural engineering, green and clean energy, solar energy, and food processing. These innovations are to be regularly communicated to the farming community through the campaign "From Invention to Newspaper", highlighting the role of traditional media in effectively disseminating information.

In attendance were notable figures like Dr. Sunil Joshi, Director PM, Dr. Arvind Verma, Director of Research, Dr. R.B. Dubey, Dean of RCA, Dr. Lokesh Gupta, Dean of CDFT, and others, along with 812 participants including NCC cadets, students, and farmers. This initiative not only honors mothers through environmental conservation but also strengthens the sacred connection of service towards mother nature, marking a significant contribution towards a cleaner and more beautiful environment.
