Bijolia, Bhilwara | A two-day training program for agricultural extension officers has been inaugurated under the Crop Diversification Project of Maharana Pratap Agricultural and Technology University’s Research Directorate. This program is being held as a pilot project titled “Enhancing Agricultural Stability and Profitability through Crop Diversification in Southern Rajasthan.”
The aim of this initiative is to familiarize officials with the latest methods and techniques of crop diversification, enabling them to assist farmers in achieving better agricultural stability and economic benefits. Experts present at the program delivered lectures on various aspects of crop diversification, explaining how this strategy can help farmers in Southern Rajasthan attain higher profitability and long-term agricultural sustainability.
Project in-charge Dr. Hari Singh emphasized the importance of crop diversification in addressing the impacts of climate change and improving soil health. He presented successful case studies and offered practical suggestions for implementing these strategies at the grassroots level. Agricultural Officer Uday Lal Koli stressed the economic benefits of crop diversification, highlighting how farmers can optimize resource use and mitigate risks associated with monoculture systems. He encouraged extension officers to motivate farmers to adopt more diversified cropping systems, thereby enhancing their income and stability against market fluctuations.
Agricultural Officer Sonia Silwatia explained how collaboration among agricultural scientists, extension officers, and farmers can effectively achieve the goals of crop diversification. Lakshmi Lal Brahmbhatt presented a comprehensive plan for implementing crop diversification and shared information about government schemes available to assist farmers.
The program was highly informative, and participants expressed eagerness to apply this knowledge in their respective fields to bring about positive changes in agricultural stability and profitability through crop diversification.
