Udaipur: Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap Agriculture and Technology University, was honored with the "Chaudhary Hansa Singh" Award for his outstanding work in entomology research at a three-day international seminar organized by the Aastha Foundation, Meerut, at the Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute, Durgapura.
The seminar, focused on global research initiatives in sustainable agriculture and related sciences, saw Dr. Karnataka delivering a special lecture on "Agriculture Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." He highlighted the future challenges of water scarcity, soil erosion, and crop productivity, stressing the importance of maize and millets production. Dr. Karnataka emphasized the need for precision and digital agriculture, along with sustainable water management in the context of climate change. He also urged scientists and extension workers to quickly disseminate new technologies to farmers.
Under Dr. Karnataka's leadership, MPUAT has been continuously working in this direction, and the university has received 25 patents and design registrations in 2024 alone, based on innovations. The event was attended by several distinguished scientists, including Dr. J.S. Sandhu, former Vice Chancellor of SKNAU, Jobner, Dr. S.K. Chaturvedi, Director of Research at RLBCAU, Jhansi, Dr. P.K. Roy, Director of ICAR-DRMR, Bharatpur, Dr. S.P. Singh, Dr. Arjun Singh Baloda, Dr. Ved Prakash, and Dr. Arvind Verma, among others.
